How to Connect to Shopify
Set up the Shopify integration for your e-commerce store.
Connect Your Shopify Store to SEO Software
With the Shopify integration in SEO Software, you can publish blog articles directly to your Shopify store without leaving the platform. This allows you to go from content creation to live publishing in just a few clicks.
Once connected, SEO Software can send articles straight to your Shopify blog, helping you streamline your content and SEO workflow.
How to Connect Shopify to SEO Software
Connecting Shopify requires creating a custom app inside your Shopify admin. Follow the steps below carefully.
Step 1: Open Shopify Settings
Log in to your Shopify admin panel and click Settings in the bottom-left corner.
Step 2: Access App Development
Go to Apps and sales channels, then select Develop apps.
If app development is not enabled yet, Shopify may prompt you to enable it first.
Step 3: Create a Custom App
Click Create an app and enter any name you like (for example: SEO Software Integration).
Confirm the app creation when prompted.
Step 4: Configure Admin API Permissions
Once the app is created, open it and click Configure Admin API scopes.
Step 5: Enable Blog Permissions
Use the search bar to find blog permissions, then enable:
read_contentwrite_content
Save your changes after granting access.
Step 6: Install the App
Navigate to the API credentials tab and install the app.
This step is required before Shopify generates access credentials.
Step 7: Copy API Credentials
After installation, copy the following values:
- Admin API access token
- API secret key
Paste both into the Shopify integration settings inside SEO Software, then save.
🎉 That’s it — your Shopify store is now connected.
Security & Data Protection
Your Shopify credentials are stored encrypted and securely within SEO Software. We never share your credentials and they are only used to publish content to your store.
Publishing Articles to Shopify
After connecting Shopify, you can publish articles directly from SEO Software to your Shopify blog. Simply choose Shopify as your publishing destination and confirm.
Known Limitation
Shopify does not currently allow third-party tools to programmatically update meta titles and meta descriptions for blog posts.
After publishing, you’ll need to manually edit these SEO fields inside your Shopify admin.
Troubleshooting Shopify Integration Issues
If the integration does not work after entering your credentials, the issue is almost always due to one of the reasons below.
1. Incorrect Shopify Store URL
Your Shopify store URL must include myshopify.com.
âś… Correct format:
your-store-name.myshopify.com
❌ Incorrect formats:
yourstore.com
yourbrand.ai
Even if you use a custom domain publicly, Shopify still requires the .myshopify.com URL for API connections.
Tip:
If you’re unsure of your store’s internal Shopify URL, contact Shopify support and ask for your store URL for custom app development.
2. Duplicate Article Titles
Shopify does not allow multiple blog posts with the same title.
If an article with the same title already exists:
- Change the title before publishing, or
- Provide the existing article’s ID if you are updating a previously published post
